Research Interests

  • My primary area of interest is teacher education, with particular emphasis on the knowledge-base that teachers hold and which informs their classroom practice.  My dissertation in this area is titled, “Articulating Teacher Belief Systems in an Intensive English Program: A Case Study.”  This research examines the various personal and professional factors that guide what instructors do in the classroom.  Another interest is in utilizing instructional techniques that create a dynamic learning environment in which teachers can explore and improve their teaching skills.  Other interests include facilitating graduate student research excellence and teaching academic English to international university students.
