| - I was born and raised in New York City. I teach at Palomar College and Springfield College, as well. I have a California Multiple Subject Professional Clear Teaching Credential and have many years of experience teaching elementary school children. I have been a Scripps Ranch resident since 1986 and have two lovely daughters.
- I have taught for both the GLS and Education departments. Some of the classes I have taught include PE3306, LIT3330, EDU 5311, EDU5321, EDU 5220 and the Field Experience classes (EDU1001, 2201 & 3301.) I have also co-taught NSC 2216 and supervise both multiple and single subject credential candidates in their field placements.
- I am currently working on two children's books and hope to have them published in the near future.
- I love spending time with my children. My husband and I travel every chance we get! I enjoy gardening and taking long strolls through the woods with our big dog. We are avid swimmers and are movie buffs.
- I am coordinating an on-campus event called "Family Literacy Day." It is scheduled for December 7, 2002 from 9AM-1PM on the San Diego Campus. This event is designed to encourage literacy activities amongst low income families and their young children. It will be an exciting way to establish lifelong positive bonding through literature for families. We are expecting approximately 200 participants. We will have a Keynote speaker and four breakout sessions. If the event is a success, perhaps it will be the first of many similar events!
- In 1997, I co-authored a guide book called "What's Best For Infants and Young Children." It was distributed through the United Cerebral Palsy Association and provided to Child Care providers throughout San Diego County.
- I provide regular and ongoing training to Head Start teachers and staff on such topics as literacy, effective parenting, partnering with parents & community agencies and working with children with special needs. In addition, I teach two workshops annually at Palomar College on Diversity in the Classroom and Autism.
